O2 and NH3 are both small covalent bonds...?

O2 is nonpolar because the dipoles of both oxygen atoms cancel out with each other. On the other hand, NH3 is polar because its dipole is not canceled out and it points from the hydrogens to the nitrogen atom. Since water is also polar, NH3 dissolves more readily than O2.
