Feline Aggression Question?

What are some reasons that a cat can out of nowhere just suddenly get aggressive? He hasnt bit anyone or scratched (never has done either of these) but he gets to the point where e kind scares me but the way he meows.He is normally a big cuddle bug but out of nowhere he gets in these moods where he will get up in your face and meow in this very intimidating sounding meow. if that even makes any sense lol..the other day i was walkin around with the baby as i was feeding her and he kept steppin in front of me doin that meow. i know its not the baby bc she is already 4 months old so its not like she is new news to him. nothin in the household has changed. we havent moved or anything of that sort. he is a year old. he acts like he should be that Thriller video by Michael Jackson lol
