I'm reading a book about Hernan Cortes and the Aztecs. Why did Montezuma not take more precautions (continued)?

against Hernan Cortes when his forces came into Tenochtitlan and thus avoid his capture? Especially after Cortes' actions at Cholula? Wouldn't that suggest to him that Cortes would be potentially dangerous and volatile?
