Thick, wavy, uncooperative hair... Any good flat irons for this kind?

My hair is Very Uncooperative... but I need to find a good flat iron for it!! I've tried CHI, and I have to go over it 3 times to get it straight... are there any cheaper brands that work? I heard Solia works well... any ideas?
