How do you melt pewter?

It has a low melting point, you can probably melt it on a gas cooker in an old saucepan. Wear safety gles while you experiment, there's no repairing of burnt eye. I used to cast lead fishing weights, not so much for fishing but the fun of melting a metal and pouring it into molds I had made out of Plaster of Paris. Your local library might have some books on it that have been forgotten about, unless someone puts it on the Internet the info sits on shelves gathering dust.
